Implicit Bias

What you don’t know will limit you.

Implicit bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner. The Embrey Foundation is developing a series of documentary abstract dance short films to bring awareness to the subconscious perceptions we all carry regardless of race, gender, status, or orientation. These perceptions influence our decision-making and our behaviors. The goal of our campaign is to continue utilizing the arts for social justice to give our audiences a new understanding of the consequences of our preconceived perceptions of others upon ourselves and those around us.

In the following videos you will see the discomfort created by our very own implicit bias as our thoughts are revealed in the external world of movement.
